SUMMARY:New Community Energy Projects in Sheffield and the surrounding area: A Call to Action!
DESCRIPTION:This is a follow-up event to our highly regarded 2024 event ‘Expanding Community Energy in South Yorkshire\,’ which showcased successful community energy projects across the country. \nNew Community Energy Projects in Sheffield and the Surrounding Area is aimed at individuals and groups who are now willing and ready to start setting up their own community energy projects in the Sheffield area that can take advantage of new government support for community energy. \nAs the climate emergency continues to meet with a frustratingly slow response from governments\, national and globally\, local actors are increasingly taking the future into their own hands by setting up locally controlled renewable energy and carbon-reduction projects. If you are amongst those people who have the skills\, the appetite and the enthusiasm to make sure we start addressing this challenge\, then this event is for you. \nOn the day\, you will have the chance to: \n\n\nMeet with others who are interested in similar projects \n\n\nFind out about the key first steps in setting up your own project \n\n\nFind out about useful sources of support\, locally and nationally \n\n\nFind out about possible ways your project could be funded \n\n\nSee how others have set up similar projects \n\n\n‘Sign up’ to either already existing or potential new projects \n\n\nThere will be stalls to visit on the day covering set-ups for: \n\n\nSchools projects \n\n\nPlaces of worship projects \n\n\nCommunity building projects \n\n\nSocial housing projects \n\n\nPrivate housing projects \n\n\nInsulation advice projects \n\n\nCommunity wind turbine projects \n\n\nPreviously existing projects \n\n\nThere will also be general advice on different ways to raise funds and on working with Sheffield City Council.\n\nBring your skills\, talents\, and interests – we look forward to seeing you there! \nThis event is FREE to attend\, however\, we welcome donations\, which will go towards the hire of the venue. Donations will be administered by South Yorkshire Climate Alliance.
