DESCRIPTION:The Midlands Net Zero Hub has been working with local authority partners and consultants at Klere to support the development of innovative\, area‑based carbon insetting solutions across the region. The project has built on the success of Shropshire Council’s demonstrator\, which uses pyrolysis to convert green waste into biochar and renewable energy\, generating verified Carbon Removal Certificates (CORCs) while creating a scalable circular economy model. Klere and the four local authorities have been looking to: \n\nAssess local carbon insetting opportunities and feedstock analysis.\nDevelop tailored case studies and investable business cases.\nEstablish governance models and explore potential joint ventures.\nContribute to national guidance to support wider adoption of carbon insetting approaches.
