SUMMARY:Green Energy and Low Carbon LSIP Consultation
DESCRIPTION:The Chamber of Commerce has been tasked with carrying out research on behalf of the Department of Education to look at skills provision in the North of Tyne and Tees Valley area and draw up a Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) for each area. \nThe aim of the LSIPs is to place employers at the heart of the skills system by consulting with and then articulating the skills needs of employers. We are looking at a number of sectors and crosscutting themes but skills requirements in the green energy\, low carbon and construction sector is of particular interest. \nProviders (colleges\, private training providers) and funding bodies will then be required to take account of the LSIPs when commissioning future courses. To give LSIPs and the voice of employers some extra weight\, providers will be assessed by Ofsted on their adherence to it. \nWe want to hear from all businesses in the green energy and low carbon sector\, if your business fits into the above categories\, please join our consultation event. During this event\, we will discuss your businesses low carbon and green energy skills needs\, gaps\, provision and much more. Refreshments will be provided. \nThis event is not open to education and training providers\, there will be separate events arranged to discuss the LSIP.
