SUMMARY:Accelerating Rural Decarbonisation: Updates on the REACH Innovation Project
DESCRIPTION:Rural areas face unique challenges on their decarbonisation journey\, including electricity network constraints. For the past year\, Regen has been working to explore the potential for grid-constrained rural communities to overcome this by installing a modular energy centre. In simple terms\, this would include a battery with smart controls\, and optional electric vehicle chargers and a centrally controlled heating system. \nSupported by Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund\, the Rural Energy and Community Heat (REACH) project has explored how this solution could work in rural communities in the UK. We have worked alongside seven community organisations\, with two potentially continuing into the next phase of the project. \n‍ \nAt this event\, you will:\n– Learn about the issue of demand constraints and how it could impact rural community energy projects \n– Hear about the solution being explored in this innovation project\, the possible role of community energy organisations in deploying it\, and the potential benefits. \n– Provide valuable feedback to the project team about the potential use cases for the energy centre concept. \n– Have plenty of time to ask questions \n  \nWe’d also love to get your feedback on the different possible use cases for the solution we’re looking to develop.

SUMMARY:Introduction to zonal pricing
DESCRIPTION:This webinar brings together leading experts to explain the basics of zonal pricing and shed light on the options. We will cover: \n\nBasics of zonal market design and how this differs from our current market\nHow many zones there could be\, the basis on which they would be set and how often they might change\nWhat zonal means for existing and future Power Purchase Agreements\nHow trading arrangements would work\, including the day ahead\, intraday and balancing arrangements\nImplications for investment and how risk might be mitigated\nThe impacts on consumers and how ‘losers’ might be shielded.
