SUMMARY:NEY Net Zero Hub: Local Energy Advice Pilots - Pre-Launch Webinar
DESCRIPTION:Funding is available for organisations to trial innovative approaches to providing in-person energy advice to homeowners and PRS landlords. \nThe NEY Net Zero Hub is working with the four other Net Zero Hubs and The Department of Business\, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) to fund a ‘test and learn’ programme of pilot projects which will trial different types of in-person advice provision and explore their effectiveness. The expectation is that this will enable a better understanding of the advice requirements of different consumer groups and across different housing archetypes. \nProjects will need to: \n\nTrial new approaches to providing market-led\, in-person advice at a local level.\nProvide qualified\, end-to-end support for consumers from an initial enquiry to the installation of retrofit measures in a home.\nProvide specific support and education for hard-to-treat properties\, and/or for more vulnerable homeowners and residents.\nCreate insights that could be replicated by others.\nBe complete by 31st March 2025\nExplore options for becoming self-funding by the end of the grant-funded period\nBe delivered by an organisation that is a legal entity such as Local Authorities; Community Interest Companies; Co-operatives; Community Benefit Societies; Local Community Groups in partnership with a Local Authority; Registered Social Landlords; Charitable Incorporated Organisations; Development Trusts; Registered societies (pre 2014 IPS); Parish Councils; Faith Groups.\n\nUp to £2 million can be requested for two-year projects running across FY 2023/24 and 2024/25. Match funding is not required but welcomed. \nJoin the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub to find out more about the programme including how to apply for funding.

SUMMARY:Turner & Townsend: Energy Audit Training
DESCRIPTION:Turner & Townsend is working with the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub to deliver a suite of training programmes as part of the Hub’s Public Sector Decarbonisation programme. The sessions are free to attend and open to organisations currently participating in the programme. \nThis session will cover the process of preparing and delivering an energy audit for various building types and highlight the key data\, technologies and assessment methods which can be used to assess current energy performance. Sessions aim to equip candidates with the knowledge to: \n• Identify common low regrets measures for cost and energy reductions within buildings \n• Identify and review energy efficiency measures across a range of available technologies \n• Undertake simple carbon and pay back calculations for energy efficiency measures \n• Identify and assess building and energy data to identify areas of over consumption or inefficiency

SUMMARY:Decarbonising social housing
DESCRIPTION:To reach our net zero targets by 2050\, we must decarbonise buildings\, including the 2.7 million housing associations homes in England. Housing association homes are\, on average\, more efficient than any other home\, but there is still much more to do. This session will look at the various options available to heat our homes and what the best solutions are for social landlords looking to tackle fuel poverty and cut carbon. \nOur ECO support manager\, Mark McArthur\, joins the discussion to share insight on how projects have been successfully delivered in Scotland to decarbonise social housing\, and how similar projects could be implemented in England. \nMark will be joined by Ian Preston\, director of household energy services\, Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE) and Megan Mann\, operations project manager\, Parity Projects.

SUMMARY:Tackling fuel poverty: the way forward
DESCRIPTION:The Government set a 2025 Fuel Poverty Target for improving energy performance\, aiming to protect vulnerable households and not leave behind any fuel poor homes. This event will look at how these goals can be achieved and examine the strategies for overcoming the crisis. \nStew Horne\, our head of policy\, will deliver a keynote at 9.40am on ‘assessing fuel poverty strategies across the UK and examining initiatives to protect fuel poor households’. Stew will discuss the different approach required to address the fuel poverty challenge across the four nations\, and investigate the recent changes to households\, energy systems\, and policy ambitions. \nThis event aims to highlight the regional differences of fuel poverty and the contributing factors of household income\, fuel costs\, and energy consumption\, and evaluate how to support those most at risk alongside maintaining progress towards the net-zero emissions targets.

SUMMARY:Don't lose work: Understand your Carbon Footprint
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is open to North Tyneside (UK) residents and businesses only due to funding criteria. \nMany customers and clients have carbon footprint requirements on their supply chain. Business clients expect suppliers to know their total carbon footprint\, the carbon footprint of goods and service\, and also have a plan to reduce carbon footprint to NetZero. In many cases your price may not be considered unless you have these in place. \nThis workshop will give you and your business the opportunity to understand energy use and carbon emissions within your business and perhaps more significant in your supply chain. \nThis workshop is three hours long which gives plenty of time for participant lead discussion and questions to be answered. The idea being that half the time will be spent delivering structured presentations and the other half discussion around the topic and how it applies to businesses. The more questions the better the workshop! \nThis three hour workshop will take you through topics such as: \n\nBasics of Electricity and Energy\nBusiness Energy bills and charges.\nCarbon Footprint\, understanding Greenhouse Gas Accounting.\nMeasuring your Business including Supplier Carbon Footprint.\nEnergy Systems such as EV charging\, Solar panels and LED lights.\nEnergy Efficiency Management.
