The next dates have been announced for the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub’s Seeing is Believing events, which showcase successful community energy projects being developed and delivered by community organisations, charities, CICs, faith groups, sports teams and local authorities to similar organisations.

The next round of events – many of which include sites visits delivered through bus tours – take place as follows alongside links for applying to attend.

  • Hull, Thursday February 4th Hull, 11am-4.30pm - register your interest  
    Visit to the NHS Solar Farm at Hull University Teaching Hospitals: Home to 11,000 solar panels, this large-scale installation significantly reduces hospital energy bills saving around £250,000 per month during summer.
    Additional site visits to a local community energy project TBC.
    Networking and peer-to-peer learning event.

  • Sheffield, Thursday  February 12th, 10.30-5pm  register your interest 
    Visit to Five Rivers Co-Housing, showcasing homes with solar panels, air source heat pumps and a range of retrofit measures supporting low-carbon living.
    Learn how Sheffield caterers Lembas are using rooftop solar to significantly cut on-site energy bills, supported by Sheffield Renewables
    Networking and peer-to-peer learning event. This event can be attended separately to the main tour.

  • Tees Valley, Wednesday February 18th, 10.30am – 3.30pm – register your interest 
    Visit to Cleveland & Redcar Council rooftop solar projects, demonstrating how councils are cutting costs and carbon through large-scale solar deployment
    Guided tour of Eston Pool, a brand-new leisure centre powered by air source heat pumps and on-site solar, showcasing a fully electric public facility in action. Networking and peer-to-peer learning event

 

As part of the Seeing is Believing programme a series of webinars delivered by Community Energy England will also be taking place.

 

Places are also still available at the Hub’s free Carbon Literacy training courses, designed to inspire next generation of Community Energy projects  and for our Community Energy surgeries, which offer local groups free bespoke sessions with specialist consultants aimed at helping them overcome project-specific obstacles.
