The North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub is on board a new government campaign highlighting the benefits of electric vehicles.

The “Get that electric feeling” campaign highlights how:

  • Home charging now costs as little as 2p per mile – or £5 to fully charge your car.
  • EV owners charging at home off-peak can save up to £1400 a year on running costs.
  • The average range of a new electric car is now 230 miles per charge; about two weeks of driving for most people – and a new public charging point is added every 35 minutes, with a 45% increase in rural charging points in 2024.
  • The switch to an EV is becoming more affordable as new EVs start under £25,000, with some below £16,000 and two in five used EVs now costing under £20,000, with some available for less than £5,000.

Government grants can also save households up to £3750 when they upgrade or switch to eligible electric vehicle models with an RRP under £37,000.
