Webinar: Everything you need to know about the Great British Energy Community Fund

The Hub’s Community Energy Team hosted a webinar helping local authorities and communities groups apply for the community energy funding recently launched by Great British Energy.

You can watch a recording here:

On September 17th, Great British Energy launched two new fundings streams which aim to support over 1000 local and community-led clean energy projects. These will be owned or co-owned by community energy groups or local authorities, meaning local areas can reap the full benefits.

  • GBE Community Fund – offering grant funding to help community organisations to test, develop and build community-owned clean energy assets. This Fund includes capital funding for the first time.
  • Partnerships Grant – a new scheme offering grant funding to help Local Authorities and community energy partners develop joint clean energy projects that will provide lasting local benefits.

The funds are open until November 12th,

In the webinar our Community Energy Team covered:

  • An overview of the GBE Community Fund and GBE Local Partnership Grant
  • Eligibility requirements for funding
  • How to access support from the Hub
  • Case Studies of previously funded projects
  • Q&A

While the Hubs will not be managing the administration of the funds this time round, they will still play an active role in supporting communities and organisations through the grant application process with tailored advice.

Therefore, whether you have an established project, or just an idea, you can complete our Expression of Interest form to receive some guidance and support with next steps

Receiving support from the Hub, including application reviews, feedback, or technical assistance, does not guarantee funding. All applications are subject to GBE’s eligibility requirements, assessment criteria, and final decision-making process, which remains independent of any support provided by the Hub.
