The North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub is again teaming up with FairHeat for an event aimed at providing the public sector with practical solutions for improving building performance in the public estate.
The Preparing Buildings for Heat Networks and Decarbonisation will take place at Durham University on the afternoon of Thursday October 15th 2026 and is designed to help housing associations, local authorities and public sector organisations navigate the growing challenges associated with rising energy costs, improving energy efficiency and preparing assets for future heat network connections.
Attendees will hear from about practical actions to improve heating and hot water performance, identifying low-cost opportunities to reduce energy waste, and understanding how buildings can be made ready for connection to heat networks and other low-carbon technologies. The session will also cover wider decarbonisation pathways, including heat pumps and hybrid energy solutions.
The event will feature real-world case studies and lessons learned from projects already underway, providing delegates with practical insights that can be applied to their own estates and property portfolios.
