New funding for Bradford and North Yorkshire businesses to work together to cut emissions and energy bills.

Two local authorities in the North East & Yorkshire have secured funding to help neighbouring businesses work together to cut their emissions and energy bills.

The Local Industrial Decarbonisation Plans (LIDP) competition, run by Department for Energy Security and Net Zero in partnership with Innovate UK, provides funding to support the development of place-based decarbonisation plans which see closely located industrial businesses coming together to reduce the costs of transitioning to clean energy by sharing resources.

The Bradford Manufacturing Futures, led by City of Bradford Council, has secured up to £726,729 of funding which will engage with 5 local clusters of manufacturing businesses – including companies such as heating system part maker Denso Marson, chemicals company Solenis and Japanese food producer Calbee  – to develop a roadmap to take the businesses to Net Zero.  Together these clusters currently contribute 52% of Bradford’s CO2 emissions.

The Decarbonising Dalton Industrial Estate project, led by North Yorkshire Council, has secured up to £129,063 to develop an actionable route to net zero for Dalton Industrial Estate, a multi-business mixed use industrial site made up of large industrial users and smaller businesses, including pet food manufacturer Inspired Pet Nutrition and steel manufacturer Cleveland Steel & Tubes. The plan will include detailed assessments of power, heat, transport, resource and natural capital needs for every company on site and set out an action plan to take each business to net zero.
