Minister to launch national celebration of community participation in clean energy in Bradford
A government minister will launch a national celebration of the role of communities in reducing energy bills and carbon emissions – and meeting local and national clean energy ambitions – at a special event organised by the North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub in Bradford next month.
Each one of the Local Net Zero Hubs will host an Energising Britain event on Monday July 6th 2026 – as part of the rollout of the first national Public Participation Strategy, published earlier this year.
The North East and Yorkshire event will take place at Bradford City FC – with the club having recently won a national award for its community sustainability work.
The event will feature a keynote from a government minister, as well as showcases of the unexpected and creative ways community groups and organisations from across the region are involving their communities in the electrification of Britain and making sure local people benefit see and feel the benefits of it.
Comedian Stuart Goldsmith – as seen at Live at the Apollo – will also deliver a presentation on the power of storytelling and humour in community engagement in clean energy action.
At the heart of Energising Britain is a simple message:
Everything we value – from homes to public services – can be powered by clean energy from nature.
The events are intended to:
- Build momentum and confidence among those working locally on climate and clean energy projects
- Showcase the real-world benefits of clean energy for communities and inspire more communities and groups to take part in the national clean energy mission
