Community groups and organisations are available to apply for two types of grant under the Rural Community Energy Fund.

Feasibility Grant

Up to £40,000 is available for eligible projects in the early phases of exploring the possibility of a renewable community energy project.

Development Grant

Up to £100,000 is available for eligible projects which can demonstrate a good chance of being implemented. This can help cover the costs of more detailed aspects of projects, including land, environmental and legal considerations, technology selection and planning.

Applicants must be planning a renewable energy project which will benefit the local community. They must also be able to demonstrate that a good level of community engagement has been carried out, and that there is genuine community support for the project, including plans for ongoing community engagement.
