The below table contains information on funding streams that have previously been delivered by the Net Zero Hub. Click on the links to find out more information about each funding package and their impact:

Clean Growth Fund

£40 million


The fund was launched in May 2020.


Community Renewal Fund

With a total value of £220 million, lead authorities should produce a shortlist of projects in their area up to a maximum of £3 million.


Proposals need to be submitted to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government by Friday 18 June 2021.


EU City Facility

Awards are for €60,000.


The current call for bids is from Friday 26 March to Monday 31 May 2021. A further two calls are planned.


Green Heat Network Fund

A proposed £270 million, supporting a maximum of 50% of capital costs of projects, with maximum bids to be confirmed.


Replacing Heat Networks Delivery Unit, the Green Heat Network Fund was open for consultation until January 2021 and will be open from April 2022 for three years, with quarterly bidding windows.


Green Heat Network Fund Transition Scheme (second application round)

£10 million


Open for applications on Monday, the 30th of August 2021. This second application round will close to applications at 12.00 noon on Thursday the 7th of October 2021.


Homes Upgrade Grant

A proposed £150 million.


Guidance and eligibility criteria expected in summer 2021, with programme delivery open from January 2022.


Industrial Energy Transformation Fund

£40 million.


The first phase opened on Monday 8 March 2021 and closes on Wednesday 14 July 2021.


MCS Charitable Foundation

Grants will usually be for £5,000 to £50,000. In exceptional cases grants will be considered for higher amounts up to £100,000. Projects with match funding will be looked upon favourably.


The next deadline is Monday 19 July 2021.


Net Zero Hydrogen Fund

A proposed £240 million, with maximum bids to be confirmed.


A consultation document is due in summer 2021, along with the government’s new hydrogen strategy. The fund is set to open in 2021/2022.


Public Sector Decarbonisation Fund Phase 2

£75million of grant funding is available. Bids up to a maximum of £5million will be considered. There is no minimum bid.


The fund opens on Wednesday 7 April 2021. All projects that receive funding must be fully installed before 31 March 2022.
