The first phase opened on Monday 8 March 2021 and closes on Wednesday 14 July 2021.

Who can bid for it?

The fund is open to businesses of any size operating a manufacturing or data centre site. Eligibility is based on SIC codes.

What is the fund for?

The fund is jointly delivered by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and Innovate UK. It provides grant funding for energy efficient projects and studies.

Eligible projects are:

  • Investment in technologies that improve the energy efficiency of industrial processes (grants of £100,000 – £14 million).
  • Feasibility and engineering studies into energy efficiency and deep decarbonisation measures for industrial processes (grants of £30,000 – £7 million).

Projects must start by 1 January 2023 and end by 31 December 2024. You must consent to produce a publicly available case study for knowledge sharing during the project.

Examples of eligible energy saving technologies include energy management equipment, waste heat recovery, more efficient driers and efficient refrigeration.
