The North East and Yorkshire Net Zero Hub this autumn launches a new package of free support for community groups developing the local energy projects. 

The programme consists of a series of five training workshops – each covering a specific theme surrounding community energy – and a series of bespoke surgery sessions offering one-on-one specialist support aimed at addressing project-specific queries or issues.  

Delivered by community energy specialists Scene, the online workshops – which take place between September 10th and 31st 2025 – are aimed at upskilling local groups and will focus on the following topics: 

 

    • Project Development and Management. 

 

    • Low Carbon Technologies. 

 

    • The Connections Process. 

 

    • Governance and Procurement. 

 

    • Commercial Case Development 

The workshops are open to any community organisation considering, developing or delivering a local renewable energy project which benefits their local areas, and attendees can sign up to as many sessions as they wish.

The surgeries will offer more intensive and interactive support, offering groups the opportunity to work one-on-one with sector specialists to address specific issues relating to their projects.
