The Hub has published “Powering growth across the North East and Yorkshire”, our 2025 Annual Report.
The document highlights how energy demand across the North East and Yorkshire is projected to double in the next decade and how the Hub is playing a leading role in making sure our region has the energy it needs to power our homes and businesses – and our wider economy.
This year has seen the Hub’s funding extended, with a new focus on identifying, developing and delivering the local renewable energy projects which will be necessary to meet the national ambition of achieving a clean energy system by 2030 and generating 8GW of clean energy through the Local Power Plan
The annual report sets out our determination to accelerate delivery and highlights some of the impacts we have had over the past year.
The report highlights how we are:
- Supporting development of 128 energy generating projects across 26 local authorities, delivering a projected 194MW of new energy.
- Supporting 31 heat networks
- Working with almost half our region’s local authorities to cut the costs of heating and powering their buildings.
- Delivering energy efficiency improvements in almost 10,000 homes – making them healthier and more comfortable to live in, and cheaper to power and heat.
- Helping over 100 communities to generate clean power where it is needed – and which local people benefit from.
