The Hub has produced a series of new video case studies highlighting some of the great community-owned energy projects happening across the North East and Yorkshire.

Head over to our YouTube channel to find out more about these amazing projects.

Chapter of York Heritage Retrofit: Supported by our Energy Project Enabling Fund, the Chapter of York set out to renovate one of its properties to make it an example of best practice of retrofit in a complex heritage environment. The Hub’s support led to installation of solar slate system, air source heat pump, internal wall insulation, SUNAMP hot water system and replacement double glazed heritage windows at 1 Deangate, York.

Our Cow Molly Goes Electric: Developed by SY Ecofit and supported by the Great British Energy Community Fund and the Community Energy Fund this project investigated the feasibility of producing Green Hydrogen using power generated by a solar PV array on the new barn, anaerobic digester and a wind turbine at the beloved Our Cow Molly Farm and Ice Creamery near Sheffield.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council: Installation of a 352 kW solar PV array on the flat roof of the Redcar Leisure & Civic Centre building, generating approximately 282 MWh of electricity a year and reducing carbon emissions by 54.5 tonnes per annum.Supported by our Energy Project Enabling Fund.

Solar City York: Supported by the Community Energy Fund and the Great British Energy Community Fund, York Community Energy’s Solar City York project aims to install rooftop photovoltaic arrays on a portfolio of sites across the York area. The detailed feasibility work carried out thanks to the funding indicates that at least 5 of the sites investigated are suitable for the installation of solar PV, providing the potential for the generation of around 300 MWh annually.

Birley Health Centre: Our Energy Project Enabling Fund supported Birley Health Centre in Sheffield to maximise the potential of existing renewable technologies – leading to the installation of 47 solar panels, three 10kWh batteries and replacement or restoration of windows and doors
